Water Main Break Closes Chandler St., Disrupts Service

UPDATE 12:23 PM: According to City Manager Ed Augustus’ office, the water break is where a 6-inch fire pipe joins the 20-inch water main.

Water remains shut off to all businesses and homes on Chandler St. between Wellington St. and King St. Water service in not expected to remain turned off for most of the day.

Chandler St. is open to traffic in one land in each direction at Wellington St.

 

WORCESTER – Chandler St. from Wellington St. to King St. is closed due to a water main break that occurred around 5 AM on Thursday, July 16.

The section of Chandler St., near Wellington St., is heavily damaged.

Maintenance crews have shut the water main down which will make water service unavailable for many in the area.

City officials expect repairs to be completed today. There is no more definitive time frame for a solution at this time.

Residents and businesses in the Main South and Green Island areas should expect rusty water.
