WORCESTER – Vintage Grill on Shrewsbury St. was cited by Worcester Police on Wednesday, March 18, for serving customers on premises.

Massachusetts Governor Charles Baker issued an order on Sunday that prohibits all on-premises consumption of food or drink as part of the state’s coronavirus pandemic response.

During a compliance check the officer’s complaint states he observed food and drink being served to seated customers.

At a press briefing on Thursday evening, City Manager called Vintage Grill “phenomenally irresponsible behavior” that puts patrons, employees and police officers at risk and diverts resources that could be applied to other critical areas to deal with the pandemic.

Augustus also called it “unfair to other businesses” who are being good citizens and acting responsibly. He also said non-compliance will be met with all available consequences.

That officer applied for a criminal complaint for the violation that will be referred to the License Commission and Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission for further action.
