Worcester Public Schools Closed Until at Least April 6

WORCESTER – Worcester Public Schools will be closed until at least Monday, April 6. This includes the Parent Information Center and all before and after-school programs.

The Durkin Administration Building will be open to employees and available by phone, but closed to the public.

City officials announced at a Thursday press conference that schools would be closed today,  Friday, March 13 for cleaning. Alongside City Manager Ed Augustus and Mayor Joe Petty, Superintendent of Worcester Public Schools Maureen Binienda said she expected school to be opened on Monday, March 16.

Three individuals who are part of North High School and Chandler Magnet elementary schools are being tested for Coronavirus.

Officials from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health had a conference call with Worcester officials earlier today as well as many cities and towns across Massachusetts.

In Western Massachusetts, all schools in Berkshire County announced they will be closed for two weeks scheduled to start classes again on March 30.
