Assumption and St. Paul Partner for High School Students

Assumption College and the Catholic School Office of the Diocese of Worcester have announced a partnership to develop academic programs for students and professional development programs for teachers at Saint Paul Diocesan Jr./Sr. High School.

The partnership includes a commitment to affordable college education. St. Paul’s students will also have the opportunity to earn a college degree one semester early.

National Cancer Survivor Day

Saint Vincent’s Hospital is placing special emphasis on non screening and testing as it celebrates the 33rd National Cancer Survivors Day on June 7.

Early diagnosis of cancer can greatly improve the chance for successful treatment. This year, with COVID-19 encouraging people to stay away from hospitals, appointments for screenings for cancer is down more than 85% when compared to previous years.

With strong protocols to protect patients from COVID-19 in place, medical professionals at St. Vincent’s are urging patients to schedule screenings they may have delayed.

Department of Corrections Fighting COVID-19

The Massachusetts Department of Corrections [DOC] has announced it has implemented universal testing across all 16 corrections facilities under its command.

At present DOC has 7,173 people in its command. It has conducted 7,679 tests.

Of the 16 facilities operated by DOC, 11 have had three or fewer positive cases since testing began. Of those 11 facilities, seven have had zero cases.

CASA Annual Golf Tournament

Court-Appointed Special Advocates of Worcester County (CASA) has announced the Fore the Kids Annual Golf Tournament will be held on August 3.

This will be the 22nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament hosted by CASA, a nonprofit program of court-appointed volunteers who advocate for abused or neglected children.

The event enables golfers of all ages the opportunity to play the game on one of the most challenging courses in Massachusetts,, Sterling National Country Club in Sterling, MA.

Registration for the event are open.

Worcester County Food Bank Food Drive

A non-perishable food drive to benefit the Worcester County Food Bank [WCFB] will be at Crompton Park on Saturday. June 6.

Donors can drop off non-perishable food item between 8 AM and noon.

The food drive is being supported by Worcester Youth Flagg Football, Worcester Hot Dog Safari and Wootenany Comedy.
