In today’s edition – Monday, February 22, 2021 - there's a public presentation on new ShotSpotter technology proposed for the Worcester Police Dept. tonight, there's free COVID-19 testing this week, Wormtown Brewery has released a new beer, the Boys and Girls Club of Worcester is hosting a virtual career fair for kids and Doh! Girl is having another pop-up this weekend.
Since 2014, the Worcester Police Department [WPD] has used a gunfire detection system from ShotSpotter across more than eight miles of city streets.
Now, the WPD is proposing they upgrade their technology to ShotSpotter Connect. The program uses data-driven technology to staff officers in areas of the city where crime is likely to occur.
A public presentation on ShotSpotter Connect from the ShotSpotter team will be held Monday night at 6:30 PM. A Q&A session will follow.

The UMass Memorial Health Care COVID-19 Equity Task Force and the City of Worcester are offering free, walk-up COVID-19 testing this week.
The testing will take place indoors at Mercantile Center at 201 Commercial St. on the following days and times:
No appointments are necessary.
On Friday, Feb. 19, Wormtown Brewery released its first installment of their Tart of the Commonwealth series, Strawberry Sour.
Strawberry Sour is available as a taproom exclusive at their Worcester and Patriot Place locations curbside to-go.

The Boys and Girls Club of Worcester is hosting a Virtual Career Fair for kids on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
The virtual fair is sponsored by United Way of Central Massachusetts and is being held from 3 PM to 3:45 PM.
The event will have a panel of professionals in the fields of Sports, Government, Finance, Healthcare & Marketing and is perfect for kids ages 8 and up.

Doh! Girl will be hosting another bagel pop-up at the Worcester Regional Food Hub this Saturday, February 27.
Doh! Girl will be collaborating with Smith's Country Cheese and Alicia's Homemade to create a Cheese Bagel Box with a half dozen Doh! Girl bagels with cheddar cheese from Smith's and an 8oz tub of cream cheese with dill onion herb seasoning from Alicia's Homemade.
The pop-up is pre-orders only and orders can be placed here (until supplies last). Orders are available for pick-up from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
