In today’s daily 5 Things You Need to Know feature, ThisWeekinWorcester.com explores five important items and stories that Worcester and Central Massachusetts residents should keep a close eye on.

These five things can cover a whole range of subjects and issues that we feel are pertinent to understanding what’s going on in the city and the cities and towns surrounding Worcester.

In today’s edition – Thursday, August 18 – a local biography on Jack “The Shot” Foley is now available, Movies on the Common returns tonight with “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” Planting the Seed Foundation’s Stuff the Bus is underway, “Aladdin” tickets are now on sale at the Hanover Theatre and the first Out to Lunch festival and farmers market of the summer is today.

Jack ‘The Shot’ Foley Biography Now Available

Worcester’s own Mark “Pathfinder” Epstein has released a biography on college basketball icon Jack “The Shot” Foley, a three-time All-America selection for the Holy Cross Crusaders.

“Jack ‘The Shot’ Foley – A Legend for All Time” is now available on Amazon. To purchase the book, click here or click on the image below to read the book’s foreword.

Foley was the first player in school history to score 2,000 career points and his jersey number 32 was retired by Holy Cross in 2011.

Epstein also shares stories of the late Bill Russell and Togo Palazzi, both basketball legends who have recently passed away.

“Jack ‘The Shot’ Foley – A Legend for All Time” is Epstein’s second book. In 2019, he released his memoir, “They Call Me Pathfinder: Education-Basketball-Equality.”

Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Guests can bring blankets or chairs to sit on. Refreshments will be sold on site or guests can bring their own.
