In today’s edition – Monday, March 7 – the Board of Health meets tonight to vote on the school mask mandate, it’s the start of Wellness Week with Herren, the Green Worcester Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting tonight, there are three days of free COVID-19 testing this week and the Easter Bunny is coming back to the Auburn Mall on March 18.

Board of Health to Vote on School Mask Mandate

The City of Worcester’s Board of Health will meet tonight at 6:30 PM to vote on rescinding the school mask mandate in Worcester public, private, charter and parochial schools.

On Feb. 7, the Board voted 3-2 against rescinding the mandate on Feb. 28 when the statewide mask mandate was lifted.

It’s the Start of Wellness Week with Herren

ThisWeekinWorcester.com is a proud community partner for the Herren Project’s Wellness Week with Herren.

Wellness Week runs Monday, March 7 to Saturday, March 12, and each day has special programming with a unified theme. The week celebrates wellness and its importance to prevention and recovery, as well as supporting, inspiring and empowering those affected by substance use disorder.

Herren Project is a national nonprofit organization providing free resources and support for the treatment, recovery and prevention of substance use disorder.

Green Worcester Advisory Committee Holds First Meeting Tonight

The newly created Green Worcester Advisory Committee will hold its first public meeting virtually tonight at 5:30 PM.

The committee will introduce its members, lay out its goals and projects and have a discussion on its strategic communication plan.

Three Free COVID-19 Testing Clinics at Mercantile Center this Week

There are three free COVID-19 testing clinics at Mercantile Center in downtown Worcester this week.

Clinics are operated by UMass Memorial Health and will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Walk-ins are welcome.

  • Monday, March 7 — 11 AM to 4 PM (vaccines available)
  • Tuesday,  March 8 — 10 AM to 3 PM (vaccines available)
  • Thursday, March 10 — 10 AM to 3 PM  (vaccines available)

Easter Bunny Returns to Auburn Mall on March 18

The Easter Bunny arrives on March 18 at the Auburn Mall and will be available for visits until April 16.
Things to know before you go: 
  • Reservations are encouraged. Make Bunny reservations today by clicking here.
  • Families may choose to sit with Bunny or maintain social distance.
  • The Bunny’s helpers will wear masks throughout the duration of each visit.
The Bunny Photo Experience hours are Monday to Saturday from 11 AM to 7 PM and 12 PM to 6 PM on Sunday.
On Saturday, April 16, hours are 10 AM to 7 PM.
The Auburn Mall will also host events with the Bunny this season including, Caring Bunny for children with special needs on Sunday, April 3 from 9 AM to 11 AM.
