In today’s edition – Tuesday, November 29 – today is Giving Tuesday, gifts can be dropped off for the Boys & Girls Club holiday toy drive at two Gulf gas stations in Worcester, the WRTA is hosting a Talking Transit webinar, the Worcester Historical Museum opens its newest exhibit today and gas prices fell by five cents this week across Massachusetts.

Today is Giving Tuesday

Today is Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity for non-profit organizations, held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

The Worcester Business Journal has produced its Giving Guide 2022, which highlights the many philanthropic opportunities across the Greater Worcester area.

Drop Off Toys for Boys & Girls Club Holiday Toy Drive at Gulf Gas Stations

Anyone interested in donating to the Boys & Girls Club holiday toy drive this year can drop off gifts at a pair of Gulf gas stations and Chop Chop convenience stores in Worcester.

Gifts are being collected at the Kelley Square Gulf at 185 Madison St. and the Pleasant St. Gulf at 528 Pleasant St.

Toys are being collected now through Dec. 7.

WRTA Talking Transit Webinar

The Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) will  hold a Q&A webinar on Monday, Dec. 12 at 5 PM.

The webinar will feature WRTA Administrator Dennis Lipka along with WRTA staff, Chairperson of the Advisory Board an board members to answer questions from the public about fixed route and paratransit services throughout WRTA’s 37 communities.

Worcester Historical Museum Opens ‘Worcester Scene: Reseen’ Today

The Worcester Historical Museum opens its newest exhibition, “Worcester Scene: Reseen,” today in the Booth Gallery at 30 Elm St. in Worcester. The opening reception is from 5:30 PM to 7 PM.

In 1993, a group of nine photographers came together to phot ograph contemporary Worcester. They captured celebrations, schoolyards, neighborhoods, and a changing city with each click of their camera. They showed – prior to the digital age – Worcester’s changing face as a new century approached.

The exhibit will be on view in the Booth Gallery at 30 Elm Street through May 2023. Museum Hours: Monday – Saturday 10 AM to 4 PM; on the fourth Thursday of the month the Museum is open until 8:30PM.

Gas Prices Down 5 Cents in Massachusetts

AAA Northeast reports changes in gas prices across the region on a weekly basis.

Massachusetts’s average gas price decreased by five cents from last week, averaging $3.76 per gallon. That price is 5 cents higher than a month ago ($3.71) and 34 cents higher than on Nov. 28, 2021 ($3.42).

Massachusetts’s average gas price is 22 cents higher than the national average.

“In addition to lower prices locally, the national average pump price for a gallon of gasoline dropped 12 cents in the past week,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. “The cost of fuel has edged lower on fears of economic slowdowns around the globe.”

AAA Northeast’s Nov. 28 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be 12 cents lower than last week ($3.66), averaging $3.54 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 22 cents lower than a month ago ($3.76) and 15 cents higher than this day last year ($3.39).
