WORCESTER – A Worcester Police officer on assignment near Harvard Street and Institute Road at around 1:30 AM on Thursday, December 16, observed a vehicle on Institute Road reported stolen on Monday.
The officer approached the vehicle as it came to a stop on Institute Road and saw two occupants. As the officer approached, the driver sped away.
The occupants soon abandoned the vehicle near 353 Grove Street.
Officers saw a man running behind properties on Chadwick Street and began a search in the area. Officer located Kevin Abreu, 26, of Worcester, hiding i a back yard. The Worcester Police Department says officers developed probable cause Abreu is one individual seen in the vehicle.
Abreu faces charges of Receiving Stolen Property over $1200, Use of a Motor Vehicle without Authority, and Trespass.
