Police Investigating Serious Motor Vehicle Crash in Shrewsbury

UPDATE: According to Spectrum News 1, Assumption College has confirmed that four students were involved in the crash.

Two students, senior Colin McQuillan and another yet to be named have been released. Another, senior John LeDoux, will be released soon.

The fourth student, senior Lily Vartanian, is in serious condition and remains hospitalized. She is a member of the women’s rowing team.

UPDATE: Police say everyone involved was transported to UMass Medical.

According to police, the preliminary investigation shows the likely cause of the accident is speeding and failure to stop at a traffic light.

 

 

SHREWSBURY – The Shrewsbury Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle crash in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to the Westborough Police Department, the crash occurred on Route 9 near the intersection of Lake St. One passenger was ejected from a vehicle.

Westborough’s Crash Reconstruction Unit and Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s unit assisted Shrewsbury Police.

There is currently no status on the operators’ conditions. We will update this story when more information becomes available.
