WORCESTER – The Harding Tire Co. building was sold on Friday to Ed Russo, owner of Lock 50 and Russo’s Italian Restaurant in Worcester’s Canal District, for $1.25 million.

The sale was first reported by Worcester Business Journal.

As ThisWeekinWorcester.com first reported earlier this month, Harding Tire Co. closed after nearly 95 years in business on July 8.

Russo bought the property from Levy-Harding LLC at 180 Harding St.  — listed in city records as 20 Harrison St. — along with a lot at 16 Harrison St.  According to records with the Worcester County Register of Deeds, Russo purchased the properties under his corporation, Harrison Harding LLC on Friday.

The Harding Tire Co. building was constructed in 1925. The three-story building has an assessed value of $334,900. The Harrison Street lot has an assessed value of $155,600.

The automotive repair and wheel shop opened in 1928. The former Harding Tire Co. owners Deborah Feingold and Anne Mack took the business over after their father David Levy passed away in 2009.
