WORCESTER – Speed enforcement by the Massachusetts State Police in Worcester led to the arrest of a local man on gun charges on Tuesday, September 21.
A Trooper on Mill Street stopped a grey Honda Accord travelling 49 miles per hour in a zone with a 30 miles per hours limit. The Trooper conducted a traffic stop at around 2 PM.
The operator of the Honda, Miguel Escribano, 22, of Worcester, notified the Trooper he did not have a valid license to operate a vehicle. The Trooper also determined the improper registration of the vehicle.
The trooper also tested the tint level of the windows in the vehicle. They transmitted 5% of visible light. The legal requirement is 35% or more.
The Trooper issued a criminal summons to Escribano and permitted a family member to provide him a ride.
After Escribano left the scene, the Trooper opened the glove box while creating an inventory of the vehicle. The Trooper found a Glock 23 handgun with a high capacity magazine containing 13 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition.
Escribano does not have a license to carry firearms.
Troopers arrived at Escribano’s home a short time later, but he was not home. A family member called Escribano, who agreed to return home and turn himself in.
