WORCESTER – The administration of City Manager Eric Batista will present an ordinance to the city council at its next meeting on Tuesday that will increase salaries for Worcester Police officers by 12.25 percent from fiscal year 2022 through fiscal year 2025. The ordinance represents the results of collective bargaining between the city and the New England Police Benevolent Association (NEPBA).
The agreement also removes the $1,300 annual Body-worn Camera Stipend for officers hired on or after July 1, 2023.
The schedule for salary increases for police officers are:
- Effective July 1, 2021: 2.50 percent increase
- Effective July 1, 2022: 2.75 percent increase
- Effective July 1, 2023: 3.00 percent increase
- Effective June 30, 2024: 1.00 percent increase
- Effective July 1, 2024: 3.00 percent increase
The agreement also raises the paid detail rate to $60.00 per hour for all paid details.
According to the City of Worcester salary records for calendar year 2022, Worcester Police Department employees earned over $39.7 million in regular pay, nearly $10.7 million in detail pay, and over $6.4 million for overtime pay.
