WORCESTER – A sign hangs on fencing outside the old Friendly’s restaurant on Grafton Street in Worcester. It reads: “Coming Soon” next to the Starbucks logo.
The 966 Grafton Street location will be the fourth Starbucks to open in Worcester, joining locations on Park Ave, East Central St. and inside Target on Lincoln St.
Friendly’s closed roughly a year ago during the COVID-19 pandemic. The restaurant opened in 1999.
According to a report from Spectrum News 1 in June, there are plans for a drive-thru window at the new Starbucks location.
An opening date has not been announced.
