WORCESTER – Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early Jr. honored Westborough Police officer Sgt. Jon Kalagher with the District Attorney’s Team Excellence and Merit [TEAM] Award.
Kalagher responded to a domestic violence call in November of 2019 where a man repeatedly stabbed his wife.
When the woman fled their apartment, the man followed her to a neighbor’s apartment, then outside, to continue the attack.
When Kalagher arrived, the attack was ongoing. After issuing several commands to the attacker, Kalagher fired his weapon. The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The victim survived the incident because of Kalagher’s efforts.
