Teen Arrested in Worcester with Ghost Gun

WORCESTER – Police officers with the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit arrested a teen in Worcester on Friday, May 31, for posssession of a ghost gun.

Officers saw a vehicle with an expired registration sticker travelling in Green Hill Park at around 11:15 PM on Friday, after the park was closed.

According to the Worcester Police Department, after engaging a traffic stop, officers saw the passenger breathing heavily and positioning his body to shield his fanny pack. Both the driver and passenger were ordered out of the vehicle.

Officers discovered a ghost gun inside the fanny pack with no serial number or identifiable markings. Ghost guns are made with a 3D printer or assembled from a kit. Without a serial number, the weapons are untracable.

The magazine for the weapon was loaded and inserted nto the firearm.

The driver was released from the scene. The 16-year-old juvenile was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Possession of a Firearm without a License;
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine;
  • Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card; and
  • Removal or Mutilation of Serial or Identification Number of a Firearm.

The identification of the arrested individual was not released, as he is a juvenile.
