Hulafrog Lists 21 Places to Get Ice Cream in Worcester

City of Worcester to Kickoff Dementia Friendly Initiative Today

The City of Worcester will celebrate the kickoff of Dementia Friendly Worcester (DFW) — a new community initiative that brings diverse sectors of the community together to increase awareness and education, to make the city more inclusive and supportive of people living with dementia.

The event takes place from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Worcester Senior Center.

City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. will make the opening remarks and will be followed by guest speakers — including Alice Bonner, former secretary of Elder Affairs and a special proclamation presented by Mayor Joseph M. Petty. 

Attendees can enjoy vendors, refrehments and pre-register for the Dementia Friends educational session that will immediately follow the Kickoff from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM. 

 

Worcester Public Library to Launch Book Club on Wednesday

The Worcester Public Library will host a new monthly book group where readers can recommend books, and discuss different genres. The first meeting will be Wednesday, June 26 from 7:15 PM to 8:30 PM. During the first group readers are invited to recommend a memoir or biography of someone famous.

Each month will cover a different genre. At each meeting, a librarian will introduce and mention prominent books of the genre, and then everyone will get a chance to talk about their book, discuss what they liked about it, and why they’d recommend it. Patrons can register at mywpl.org.

Upcoming Genres: Books about outer space [July 24] and bestselling mysteries [August 28].

 

Star of “Real Housewives of New York” to Perform at Hanover Theatre

Luann de Lesseps, star of TV’s “The Real Housewives of New York City,” brings her cabaret show Countess Luann and Friends to The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts on Friday, October 11 at 8 PM. 

Tickets go on sale to members on Thursday, June 27 and to the general public on Friday, June 28 at 10 AM.

Tickets to Countess Luann and Friends start at $45 with limited VIP meet and greet packages available. Discounts are available for members and groups of 10 or more.
