Public Forum on Worcester School District Spending of ARPA Funds Tonight
The Worcester School Committee’s Standing Committee on Finance and Operations is holding a public forum tonight — Monday, December 20 — at 7 PM.
The forum will provide opportunities for public input on the district’s plans for Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief funding, as required by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

Longest Night Vigil is Tonight on Worcester Common
National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day is observed annually, usually on the longest night of the year, the winter solstice.
On Monday, December 20, at 5:30 PM, a vigil in remembrance of community members whose lives have been lost due to homelessness this year will be held on the Worcester Common at 455 Main Street.
The vigil includes members of the community in Worcester with experience with homelessness in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Homeless Outreach & Advocacy Program Consumer Advisory Board and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester.
Trash and Recycling Will Operate Normally Next 2 Weeks
The city of Worcester’s trash and recycling pick-up won’t be interrupted by the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays since they both fall on a Saturday this year.
Trash and recycling will resume its normal Monday through Friday schedule.
The City of Worcester’s Department of Public Works and Parks announces that trash and recycling collection will be on a regular Monday through Friday schedule for the next two weeks. The Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays will not affect the collection schedule either week.

Worcester Union Softball Team Looking for Players for Winter Sessions
The Worcester Union Softball program is looking for softball pitchers and positional players for each of their divisions from 12U to 18U and Showcase.

Winter sessions start up in two weeks and there’s a full schedule in the spring and early summer, including college showcase tournaments for older players.
