In today’s edition – Thursday, March 31 – the Shrewsbury Police Department announced it will have increased patrols to enforce hands-free laws in April, the Blue Man Group comes to Hanover Theatre, a public meeting on improvements to the East Park Little League field, the WooSox will host a double header for its open house and Wachusett Country Club opens for the season next week.

Shrewsbury Police Expand Patrols in April

The Shrewsbury Police Department announced on Wednesday that it will have extra patrols enforcing hands free laws through the month of April.

Shrewsbury Police were awarded grant funding from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, Office of Grants and Research (OGR) for the Municipal Road Safety Grant. Those funds are supporting the additional enforcement.

The enhanced enforcement in Shrewsbury is part of a campaign across the state, including other local departments and the Massachusetts State Police.

East Park Little League Field Improvements

The Parks, Recreation and Cemetery division of the Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks holds an open meeting on Monday, April 11, at 6 PM, as part of the planning process for proposed improvements at Cristoforo Colombo (East) Park Proposed Little League Field.

The meeting will include presentations of the design concept and a Q&A and comment period.

The meeting is at 50 Manny Familia Way (formerly Skyline Drive) in meeting room A.

‘Blue Man Group’ at Hanover Theatre in April

The Blue Man Group is a on a new North American tour that includes six shows at Hanover Theatre between Thursday, April 7 through Sunday, April 10.

More than 35 million people around the world have experienced the Blue Man Group. The new tour features an all-new performance of the non-verbal “hilarious absurdity” the group has become known for across the world.

Polar Park Hosts Free Doubleheader

The Worcester Red Sox are holding an open house on Saturday, April 9, from 10:30 AM until 4 PM. The open house features a doubleheader between Assumption University and Stonehill College.

The entire afternoon is free to attend. Attendees can also pick up a $2 voucher for use at concession stands or the WooSox team store. Those vouchers can be picked up at the box office at gate D, which is at 100 Madison Street or the Fallon Health Square Ticket Office on Summit Street.

Wachusett Country Club, Kettle Brook Open April 6

Wachusett Country Club at 187 Prospect Street in West Boylston and Kettle Brook Golf Club in Paxton are both opening for the season on April 6 and are now accepting bookings for tee times.
