Baba Sushi to Host Grand Re-Opening Party on Aug. 18

Just three months since a two-alarm fire closed the restaurant,

The party will take place in the parking lot between Baba and Shabu and will feature live music, games, samples and raffle prizes. 

Food and drink can be purchased inside Baba. The event is 21+.

 

Worcester PD vs Worcester Fire in 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges

Worcester police officers and firefighters are teaming with the American Red Cross for Worcester’s third annual Battle of the Badges blood drive to see who can recruit the most eligible donors in their community to donate blood.

On Thursday, August 29 from 10 AM to 5 PM at the DCU Center, members of the public can join the Battle of the Badges blood drive by donating blood.  Each donor gets one vote for Worcester Fire or Worcester Police.

In addition to bragging rights, the winning badge will take home a trophy and $1,500 for the charity of their choice, courtesy of the Worcester Railers HC.

All those who present to donate during Battle of the Badges will receive free parking at the Major Taylor Garage and a free hot dog or veggie wrap from SAVOR.

Tickets on Sale for Worcester Wine Festival Now

The 2019 Worcester Wine Festival Grand Tasting will take place at Union Station on Saturday, Sept. 14.

With nearly 400 hand-curated wines, the Grand Tasting will also include tastings from selected restaurants, as well as hand-picked art and retail vendors

Ticket prices and offerings:

VIP – $125 – Extremely limited quantity ticket that offers an advanced tasting of all of the wines before the general hall is opened to the general public. Admission begins at 12:00 PM. The VIP Lounge will open at 1:30 to VIP ticket holders for a multi-course small taste pairings of unique, VIP-only wines including discussion with leading representatives. 

General Admission Session 1 — 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM – $65

General Admission Session 2 — 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM – $35

Worcester Chili & Chowder Festival Returns on Sept. 21

Pulse Magazine is celebrating the fifth year of Worcester’s Annual Chili & Chowder Festival.

The festival will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Compass Tavern parking lot at 90 Harding St. in Worcester and will feature live music and activities while some of the city’s top restaurants battle for the title of Worcester’s BEST chili or chowder.

Purchase of an admission sticker entitles you to try chili & chowder samples from all participating restaurants, and cast your vote for the Peoples’ Choice Award. Tickets are $15. Kids 5-12 are $5, and 5 and under are admitted free. For tickets, click here.

There will also be games, vendors, and live music. Beverages and adult beverages will be available for purchase.

2nd Annual Worcester Jazz Festival a Weekend-Long Event in October

The Worcester Jazz Festival is back to stretch a weekend in October.

The four nights of special events include “Night and Day: Worcester Jazz Singers’ Tribute to Cole Porter” hosted by Dale LePage with Joan Cleary, Renee Legendre, John Solaperto, Lydia Fortune, Toni Ballard, Bobby Gadoury, Joe D’Angelo, Geoffrey Waston Oehling, Thomas Spears, the WA Jazz Band and more at the Historic Warner Theatre on Thursday October 10th:

On Friday, Oct. 11, Redemption Rock Brewing will host Jazz Night Jazz Night featuring the Carlos Odria Group

The next day — Saturday, October 12 — will be two part including the second annual Festival Day on Worcester Common at City Hall from 11 AM -6 PM featuring international Touring Artists The Fringe; the Russo Brothers; the WPI Jazz Ensemble with special guest Toni Ballard; The Clark University Jazz Band; vocalist Cobby; Host HS Program the Worcester Academy Jazz Band; award-winning vocalist Patrice Williamson, and more.
 
The night will be capped off by international touring and recording artist Yoko Miwa at the Pavilion at the Beer Garden on the Grid at 8 PM.
