WORCESTER – Two men, both 72-years-old, were assaulted inside a Park Ave. Dunkin’ during the morning on Tuesday.

According to the Worcester Police Department (WPD), a 72-year-old man was sitting with friends when approached by a man asking for money. When the group declined to give the man money, they say he became upset and left the store.

About six minutes later the man allegedly re-entered the store wearing a black ski mask and struck the 72-year-old man several times. When another man, also 72-years-old, attempted to intervene, that man was also struck. One of the men was transported to a local hospital with a broken nose.

the WPD says officers identified the man, Manuel Santiago, 30, using surveillance video from the store. The officers at the scene issued a “be on the lookout” alert for Santiago.

While officer searched the area for Santiago, a new report from near Dollar Tree, at 50 Mill St., was received by police. That report said a man was harassing customers in the area.

In response to that call, Santiago was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Assault and Battery on a Person over 60 (x2)
  • Furnishing a False Name to Police After Arrest
