WORCESTER – It’s that time of year again – the grocery stores are beginning to stock up on pumpkin spice and apple cider, shops are advertising back-to-school items, and summer seems to be flying by.

This weekend, ignore all of these reminders of autumn and take advantage of one of the last summer weekends! Check out our top picks for weekend activities below.

12th Annual Barbara J. Walker Butterfly Festival

Looking to immerse yourself in nature and appreciate the little things this weekend? Broad Meadow Brook Conservation Center and Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting a Butterfly Festival this Saturday, August 10 from 10 AM to 4 PM. The event will feature naturalist-led walks, crafts and face painting, encounters with butterflies and caterpillars, food, tours, plants for sale, and more! Free 4th Annual SplashFest

Beat the heat this weekend and make your way to this SplashFest on Saturday, August 10 from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Journey Community Church! There will be water games, slides, crafts, and more. If the description doesn’t sound enticing enough, the event is free! Read all about the event here.

 

Annual Mount Carmel & Loreto Italian Festival

Any Italian food lovers out there? The 2019 Mount Carmel and Loreto Italian Festival is a 4-day event, August 8 – August 11 featuring Italian food, live music, and a large variety of rides and games. Head over to Our Lady at Loreto Church and check it out! Tickets are $2, and more information about the specific performing artists and sets can be found here

2019 Cap’n Luke’s Clam Bake

It wouldn’t be summer in New England without a clambake! This Saturday, August 10 from 5 PM to 10 PM, Regatta Point Community Sailing will be hosting a clambake featuring lobster, clams, non-seafood options, corn, live music, and a moonlight sail. Tickets are $35 for an adult full meal, $25 for a child full meal, and $20 for the non-seafood options. Purchase your tickets here!

 

Papa Roach

For the avid concert-goer, Papa Roach will be playing at the Palladium Outdoors in Worcester this Saturday, August 10 at 2:15 PM. The show is part of Papa Roach’s tour but will also feature many special guests. Find the list of special guests and purchase tickets here.

 

The 137th Bolton Fair

Though this fair isn’t in Worcester, it had to make the list! The Bolton Fair will take place August 9 – August 11 at the Lancaster Fairgrounds, 318 7 Bridge Road in Lancaster.
