The Town of Auburn implemented a mask requirement in municipal buildings effective Wednesday, September 29. The order, signed by Town manager Julie Jacobson, followed an Auburn Board of Health vote on Tuesday, September 28. The order went into effect on September 29.

The order requires all town employees in departments under the Town Manager to wear face coverings while performing official duties in a town building or working in a non-town building where six feet of distancing isn’t possible. The order specifies that town employees may remove the face coverings within private offices or shared work spaces where distancing can be maintained.

The order also requires all visitors over the age of two-years-old to wear face coverings inside municipal buildings. The locations specifically identified are:

Town Hall, Library, Senior Center, Department of Public Works, Pakachoag Golf Course Clubhouse, Police Station, and Fire Station or any indoor location where a town program or event is held.

The Town Manager’s order also applies when two or more employees are within a town vehicle.

The requirement does not apply outdoors and those with a medical condition or disability.
