WORCESTER – A local man pleaded guilty to federal charges that he used stolen identity to apply for a US Passport after he unlawfully entered the country after previously being deported.
Rohan Andrew Brown, 56, of Worcester, pleaded guilty in Worcester Federal Court on Wednesday to single counts of Unlawful Reentry of a Deported Alien and Passport Fraud. U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman scheduled sentencing for July 17.
According to federal prosecutors, Brown was deported to his native country, Jamaica, in August 2002 after he was convicted of Unlawful Restraint in the First Degree in Connecticut. Brown unlawfully reentered the US sometime before 2013.
In 2012, Brown unlawfully obtained a passport using the identity of a US citizen. He also obtained drivers licenses in California and Ohio using the same identity.
Brown also attempted to renew the passport in March 2022 and May 2023, using the same fraudulent identity.
The charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. The charge of passport fraud provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
