WORCESTER – The Worcester Department of Public Works and Parks (DPW) will hold a public meeting on Thursday, June 15, on the renaming of Indian Hill Park.
The Parks and Recreation Commission (WPRC) of DPW received a petition on May 25 to rename the park to Sara Robertson Park. The meeting enables public questions and comments on the proposed renaming of the park. Members of the public may submit documentation or comments to WPRC to be included in the meeting agenda at parks@@worcesterma.gov by the end of the day on June 12.
Sara Robertson was the first female mayor in Worcester’s history, serving from 1982 to 1984. Prior to mayor, she was also a Worcester School Committee member and served as president of the League of Women Voters in Worcester. Robertson died on May 7. She was 88 years old.
The meeting is at Green Hill Park at the Parks and Recreation Commission at 40 Officer Manny Familia Way. The meeting starts at 6:30.
