WORCESTER – Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey announced on Wednesday, April 20 that a Worcester nursing assistant was indicted and arrested on Friday, and arraigned on Tuesday, for the alleged unauthorized use of the debit cards of four nursing home residents and the theft of over $30,000.

Alexander Irizarry, 52, of Worcester, faces charges on four counts of Larceny from a person over 60 years of age and a single count of both attempted Larceny over $250 from a person over 60 years of age and attempted Larceny under $250 from a person over 60 years of age.

Irizarry was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Parsons Hill Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, at 1350 Main Street in Worcester, at the time the crimes allegedly took place.

Investigators allege that between June 2020 and May 2021, Irizarry asked residents diagnosed with memory issues, declining health, or mental health issues if they needed items from stores or had banking needs. Irizarry claimed to have permission from the facility to shop and bank for residents then quarantined during the pandemic.

Irizarry allegedly gained access to the debit cards of four residents and repeatedly withdrew between $500 and $1,000 at ATMs. Investigators say Irizarry used one card while vacationing in Florida and again after the patient died.
