BOSTON – A federal court judge sentenced a local man to over six years in federal prison after pleading guilty to transporting child pornography and sexual contact with children while overseas.

A judge in federal court in Boston sentenced Scott Jameson, 47, of Sutton, to 78 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, and $20,000 in special assessments on Thursday. Jameson pleaded guilty to one count of illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place and one count of transportation of child pornography in November.

Jameson told law enforcement interviewers that he worked as a magician  for over 20 years, performing at private events, libraries, and family events across New England, often for chilldren between kindergarten age up to the eight grade.

A Cambodian non-governmental organization foundded to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation, Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE), contacted federal autthorities in early 2022. Accordig to federal prosecutors, APLE reported that Jameson, who has dual citizenship in the US and Ireland, engaged in inappropriate behavior with minors in Cambodia.

Prosecutors say an investigation revealed that while in Cambodia, James would exchange gifts and money to children and families, then visit where they lived and sleep in a room with those children.

In August 2022, Jameson again travelled from Boston to Cambodia. When he returned to the US on Oct. 19, 2022, Jameson was stopped at Logan Airport by law enforcement. A video discovered within his belongings depicted the genitals of a young boy of around seven years old. Jameson admitted to creating the video. His laptop revealed it had been used to view images depicting the sexual exploitation of children.
