WORCESTER – Local singer-songwriter and two-time contestant on NBC’s The Voice, Sam James, is releasing his first major label single on Friday.
The song, “Going Through It,” is the first single being released from James’ upcoming album. He signed a record deal with Universal/Republic records.

James has gone viral on social media since late 2019 thanks to his acoustic covers of hit singles from hip-hop and R&B artists. He now has more than 194,000 followers on Instagram, nearly 120,000 followers on TikTok and another 8,000 followers on Facebook.
In December 2020, his cover of Megan Thee Stallion’s hit song, “Savage” was featured on Facebook’s “Peace Out 2020” special. In early 2021, James’ covers were picked up on Spotify and Apple Music.
