Man Indicted in Thanksgiving Day Shooting in Worcester

WORCESTER – The office of Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early Jr. announced today that a Worcester grant jury has indicted a man for murder in the Thanksgiving Day shooting death of a woman on Pleasant Street.

Marcel Santos-Padgett, 31, of Leicester, was indicted in connection with the shooting death of Yueping Zhang, 34, who was found dead inside Angie’s Body Work Spa at 383 Pleasant St. on November 23.

Santos-Padgett also faces charges in a shooting on Illinois Street on Aug. 20, at around 2:40 AM. In that incident a woman was shot at, but not injured.

On Nov. 24, Santos-Padgett was arrested for Armed Assault with Intent to Murder in the Pleasant Street shooting. The indictment moves the case to Worcester Superior Court.

Santos-Padgett was indicted for:

  • Murder;
  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm not at Home or Work,
  • Possession of a Firearm not at Home or Work;
  • Armed Assault with Intent to Murder;
  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm not at Home or Work; and
  • Possession of a Firearm not at Home or Work.
