Today’s Weather in Worcester – Wednesday, Jan. 15

WORCESTER – After a mild day today with high temperatures in the middle 40s, an area of low pressure is expected to bring a quick shot of snow from late tonight to early Thursday morning.

Snow begins around 1-3 am tonight and continues until around 7-9 am Thursday morning when it will come to an end. Snow amounts late tonight and early Thursday morning will average between 1 and 2 inches in Worcester.

Thursday thru Sunday: Colder air will push into the area on Thursday on northwest winds that will gust up to 40 to 50 mph during the afternoon. This will lead to temperatures falling through the 30s during Thursday morning from late morning high temperatures in the low 40s.

A sunny, but cold day is expected on Friday with high temperatures only making it to 25 Degrees.

It still looks quite possible that a moderate sized snowfall is expected on Saturday afternoon and early Saturday evening that mixes with and possibly changes to sleet and rain Saturday night.

Snow will develop across Central Mass during the early afternoon hours of Saturday and then continue throughout Saturday afternoon. As we get into Saturday evening, the snow early in the evening will mix with and then possibly change to a rain-sleet mixture between 9 pm and midnight Saturday night. The rain and sleet mixture is then expected to continue throughout Saturday night into early Sunday morning. This storm will come to an end by mid-morning Sunday.

As For Possible Snow Amounts: I still think that snow amounts of 3 to 6 inches are expected across a large majority of Central Mass Saturday afternoon and early Saturday evening.

So, while this does not look like a big snowfall for the area, it is likely to be enough snow and then sleet and rain to make things quite messy on Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.
