Two Men Indicted for Murder in Worcester Home Invasion

WORCESTER – A grand jury in Worcester has indicted two men in connection with the death of 28-year-old Andrew Barley during a home invasion on Burncoat Street in October.

Kelvin Verde, 23, and Benny Calderon, 25, face indictments for charges of murder, home invasion, and armed robbery. Verde appeared in Worcester District Court for arraignment in February. Calderon appeared for arraignment in January. Both remain in custody. The indictments move their cases to Worcester Superior Court.

A grand jury previously indicted Luis Cotto, 30, for a charge of accessory after the fact to murder. During his arraignment in district court in November, a judge set bail at $50,000.

A report of a gunshot brought Worcester police to 480 Burncoat St. at 8:40 AM on Oct. 24. Officers located Barley suffering from gunshot wounds and EMS transported him to a local hospital.He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
