Worcester Arts Council Announces its 2024 Grant Awards

WORCESTER – The Worcester Arts Council (WAC) and the City of Worcester announced 53 grant awards for a total of $246,844 on Tuesday for arts and cultural programs in Worcester in 2024.

WAC received $225,000 from the Massachusetts Cultural Council this year and 118 applications from grant seekers. From October to December WAC evaluated all appliucations n criteria including public benefit, creative/artistic merit, capacity, budget, impact, innovation. amd matches with WAC’s annual funding priorities.

“Supporting artists in Worcester is not just about fostering creativity; it’s about nurturing diverse voices and preserving cultural heritage,” said City Manager Eric D. Batista. “I commend the Worcester Arts Council for championing equitable access to arts funding, prioritizing BIPOC artists and groups, and enriching our community with their dedication and commitment.”

WAC alo expanded its fellowship awards to five recipients this year. The grantees are Travis R. Duda, Jerry Kazarian, Ferlay Baptiste, Tina Gaffney, and Lynn Aurelie Thibault.0
