WORCESTER – The parent of a Worcester high school student faces charges for allegedly bringing a firearm inside the school.
On Thursday, December 16, Worcester Police responded to Doherty Memorial High School at 299 Highland Street in response to a report a parent brought a gun into the school on Wednesday, December 15.
The report said that Jerome Weekes, 41, of Canton, was seen with a firearm inside his vehicle, parked outside the school.
According to police, Weekes allegedly entered the school at around 1:52 PM, after dismissal, in search of another student with issues with his daughter. The pair walked to a specific classroom, looked around, and proceeded to search hallways and corridors. They both left after a short time. Police say Weekes had an object in the front pocket of his sweatshirt which appeared to be a handgun.
Officers sought an arrest warrant for Weekes and contacted the Canton Police Department. Canton police located weeks during the evening on Friday, December 17, and arrested him.
Weekes faces a charge of carrying a firearm on a campus.
