In today’s edition — June 27, 2019 – Worcester’s Out to Lunch Music Festival officially kicks off today, 171 trainees to graduate from Mass. State Police Academy at DCU Center, the Worcester Bravehearts have another limited edition t-shirt giveaway [this one celebrating the city mascots], Mad Science to present at Goddard Library branch, and, of course, the Dairy Queen opens today. 

Dairy Queen on Grafton St. [FINALLY] Opens Today

No, we haven’t been looking forward to this at all [heavy sarcasm]. Today at 11 AM, the Grafton St. Dairy Queen Grill & Chill officially opens and — the understatement of the year — people in Worcester have been looking forward to it.

As ThisWeekinWorcester.com reported, the DQ Grill & Chill will be open seven days a week at 11 AM. From Sunday to Thursday, the restaurant will close at 11 PM. It will close at 11:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.

171 Trainees to Graduate from Mass. State Police Academy Today at DCU Center

The Massachusetts State Police 84^th Recruit Training Troop will graduate from the State Police Academy today in a 9:30 AM ceremony at the DCU Center in Worcester.

A total of 171 trainees will be pinned with their badges and become Massachusetts State Troopers. The graduation ceremony is the culmination of six-months of intensive training at the Department’s academy in New Braintree.

The trainees, who will all be assigned to road patrols, will report to their assigned barracks Friday. For the first three months of their career as MSP Troopers, each new trooper will be paired with a veteran trooper who will serve as a field training officer.

Worcester’s Goddard Library Branch to Host Mad Science

The Worcester Public Library’s Goddard Branch — 14 Richards Street (inside the Goddard School of Science and Technology) — will host a performance by Mad Science on Saturday, June 29 at 10 AM. This program is just one of the many public events WPL offers year round, and is part of “A Universe of Stories” Summer Reading.

Mad Science is a leading science enrichment provider, who delivers unique, hands-on science experiences for children that are as entertaining as they are educational.
