Free Walk-Up COVID-19 Testing Today in Worcester

As part of the state’s “Stop the Spread” campaign, a free COVID-19 testing and resource fair will be held today in Worcester.

The free walk-up testing will take place today from 12 PM to 5 PM at City Hall plaza at 455 Main St.

No appointments are necessary, and a free mask and hand sanitizer will be provided with tests. Flu shots are available with insurance.

The event is ponsored by the City of Worcester and UMass Memorial Healthcare COVID-19 Equity Task Force, including Worcester Interfaith.

Can’t make it on Monday? On Wednesday, August 26, from 1 to 5 PM, testing will be available at 19 Tacoma St.

 

Fuel America is Looking for Local Musicians

Fuel America coffeehouse in downtown Worcester is looking for local singers and songwriters to perform on Friday and Saturday nights.

Fuel America is planning to offer beer, wine and pizza on those nights in the future and would like to have live music added to the mix.

T&G Cancels its Newspapers in Education Program

Teachers throughout the Worcester Public Schools system say they’ve received notice that the Telegram and Gazette won’t be providing the “Newspapers in Education” program this school year due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

The T&G’s program would provide free newspapers to classroom teachers to address current event issues and more.

In their notice to teachers, the T&G said, “If, in the future, we are able to reinstate this program, you will be notified and registration will once again be open.”

 

There’s Early Voting today in Worcester

Voters can hit the polls early for the upcoming state primary election.

Early voting is taking place from 9 AM to 5 PM today at Living Word Church of Worcester at 30 Tyler Prentice Road.

 

 

WCACA Hosting Rolling Rally this Weekend

The Worcester Caribbean American Carnival Association [WCACA] is hosting a rolling rally through downtown Worcester this week in celebration of Carnival Week.

Attendees can participate in the rally either walking or by car. The rally route will include City Hall, the Black Lives Matter mural on Major Taylor Blvd. and the Christopher Columbus statue outside of Union Station.
