Petition Submitted in Support of Holy Name’s Ed Reynolds

More than 1,100 parents, students, staff and alumni signed a petition in support of Holy Name High School principal Ed Reynolds over the weekend. The petition was delivered to the Worcester Diocese on Monday.

Holy Name and St.Peter-Marian will merge into one school next fall and Reynolds was seemingly passed over for consideration to be the new high school’s principal. The Diocese’s Associate Superintendent, Michael Clark, will be serving as the acting principal of the school until the Diocese finds a permanent candidate.

The petition states: “We, the parents, staff and students of St. Peter-Marian Jr. Sr. High School and Holy Name Jr. Sr. High School request the removal of Michael Clark as Acting Principal of the merged schools and request that Ed Reynolds, current Principal of Holy Name, be named the Principal of the merged schools. Ed Reynolds has given over 2 decades to the diocese and to our students. He is the right choice for the position.”

In a letter to Holy Name families, Reynolds wrote in part, “Your support has meant the world to me and my family and has sustained me during this difficult time…It was determined that I would not be a good fit for the newly merged high school. I will remain as principal of Holy Name until June 30, 2020, and, in that time, I will continue to devote myself to our kids and our remarkable faculty.”
