In today’s daily 5 Things You Need to Know feature, ThisWeekinWorcester.com explores five important items and stories that Worcester and Central Massachusetts residents should keep a close eye on.

These five things can cover a whole range of subjects and issues that we feel are pertinent to understanding what’s going on in the city and the cities and towns surrounding Worcester.

In today’s edition – Tuesday, March 3 – trout stocking begins soon in Massachusetts, it’s Wellness Week with the Herren Project in Worcester, there’s a Worcester feel to Boston Calling this year, Table Talk Pies is getting a “surprise” visit on Wednesday and Wendy’s has released a breakfast menu nationwide.

Spring Trout Stocking Starts Soon

MassWildlife staff will soon be stocking nearly 500,000 brook, rainbrow, brown and tiger trout into waters across the state, including right here in Worcester.

Worcester’s Bell Pond, Coes Pond and Lake Quinsigamond will all be stocked.

It’s Wellness Week with the Herren Project in Worcester

From now until the end of the week, the Herren Project will be hosting events in Worcester as part of their nationwide Wellness Week.

On Tuesday, the documentary “The First Day – A Focus on the Beginning” will be shown at Anna Maria College from 1 PM to 3 PM. The film follows Chris Herren, former professional basketball player, author and wellness advocate,  as he shares his own story of recovery with high school students who, in turn, have shared their stories of struggle and strength.

On Wednesday night, the Burns Bridge over Lake Quinsigamond will be lit up purple in recognition of substance abuse recovery efforts.

Staff and members of Worcester Fitness are leading the way on Wellness Week and are encouraging everyone to take the #HerrenFitnessChallenge:
