In today’s daily 5 Things You Need to Know feature, ThisWeekinWorcester.com explores five important items and stories that Worcester and Central Massachusetts residents should keep a close eye on.

These five things can cover a whole range of subjects and issues that we feel are pertinent to understanding what’s going on in the city and the cities and towns surrounding Worcester.

In today’s edition – Wednesday, March 4 – how you can get free donuts at Dunkin’ every Friday this month, Becker College’s game design program is ranked #2 in the world, MassWildlife officials are reminding you to keep an eye out for bears this month, don’t forget to change your clock this weekend and MIAA state basketball tournament tickets are now on sale.

Becker College’s Game Design Program is Ranked #2 in the World

The Princeton Review has ranked Becker College’s Game Design Program #2 in the world — moving up a spot since last year.

In addition, Becker College’s Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Media moved up to #10 in the world in the Princeton Review’s graduate school rankings.

“Becker College’s consistent climb in this prestigious ranking shows we lead the way in game design and interactive media education,” said Nancy P. Crimmin, Ed.D., President of Becker College. “Students and families see Becker College as a top-choice because we bring together the best faculty, technology, and resources to ensure our students not only succeed in the classroom, but find successful careers in the industry.”

This year, Becker College launched the first-in-the-nation B.S. in Esports Management.

According to the Princeton Review, the rankings are based on a survey of 150 institutions in the U.S., Canada, and abroad offering game design degree programs, majors, or courses.

Mass Wildlife Reminding Residents that March is Bear Season

MassWildlife officials are reminding the public that March is the month when hungry bears emerge from their winter dens and seek out food.

For Worcester County residents, it’s time to take down your bird feeders.

Natural foods such as acorns and other nuts are usually available on the ground, but last year’s fall hard mast crop was meager. Bears will often ignore seasonally available natural foods including skunk cabbage in favor of an easy meal at a backyard bird feeder.

Other species including wild turkeys and coyotes may also frequent bird feeders leading to a variety of nuisance issues. To avoid these problems, MassWildlife asks property owners to be proactive by removing bird feeders and other potential food sources including garbage or open compost.

MIAA State Basketball Tournament Tickets are on Sale
