WORCESTER – With the New England Patriots now out of playoff contention, maybe Worcester’s own Adrian M. Mompoint can fill in for quarterback Cam Newton on the field.

Mompoint seems to fit the role well in a recent Downy commercial with Newton, wearing the quarterback’s trademark hats, scarfs and colorful clothing with eccentric patterns.
Mompoint portrays “Frankie Thompson,” the “best dressed Assistant Locker Room Manager in the league” to promote Downy’s new product, DEFY.
Newton makes a brief cameo at the end of the commercial, saying “We have an Assistant Locker Room Manager?”
Mompoint told MassLive he was originally hired as a stand-in for Newton, but due to scheduling conflicts, he got his first role in a commercial.
Mompoint is a graduate of Holy Name Central Catholic High School [now Saint Paul Diocesan] and has credited roles in several films, including Spenser Confidential, and Free Guy — which was partially filmed in Worcester. Mompoint has an uncredited role in Honest Thief starring Liam Neeson, which also had several scenes filmed in Worcester.
