While Worcester singer Ricky Duran may be the favorite in Central Massachusetts, he may have some stout competition across other areas of the country.
The Voice power rankings have been released on entertainment news and award predictions website, Gold Derby, and has Duran ranked fifth out of the 11 remaining contestants on NBC’s singing competition show.
Gold Derby lists Duran as one of the competitors they expect to move on to next week’s Top 10 — Dec. 2 and 3 — and said this about Duran:
“Ricky is one of the most versatile performers this season and his ability to sing anything and give it some swagger puts him in a safe position. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him yet, but he’s got the chops to deliver a standout performance when it counts.”
Gold Derby is owned by Penske Media Corporation — which publishes the digital and print versions of Rolling Stone, Variety, Deadline and more.
Gold Derby lists Team Kelly Clarkson’s country singer Jake Hoot at the top of the power rankings, followed by Duran’s teammate on Blake Shelton’s team, Kat Hammock, and Katie Kadan from John Legend’s team and Clarkson’s team duo, Hello Sunday. Duran sits behind this group at #5.
The power rankings predict that Clarkson’s Shane Q and Gwen Stefani’s Joana Martinez to battle for the tenth and final spot this week.
