New City Council and School Committee Inauguration on Jan. 2

WORCESTER – The City of Worcester and Worcester School Committee holds inauguration ceremonies on Tuesday, Jan. 2. in the auditorium at South High School. The event begins at 5 PM.

Mayor Joe Petty will be sworn in for a seventh term as mayor along with two new city councilors. Jenny Pacillo will represent District 1, the seat formerly held by Sean Rose. who elected not to run. Luis Ojeda will represent District 4, the seat formerly held by Sarai Rivera, who also elected not to run.

The full city council for 2024 and 2025 will be:

  • Etel Haxhiaj (D5)

The Worcester School Committee moved from all members elected at-large to a district representation model in the last election. Incumbents Sue Mailman was re-elected to an at-large seat, while incumbents Jermaine Johnson and Molly McCullough were elected to district seats. Mayor Joe Petty will chair the school committee as part of his responsibilities as mayor.
