5-Year-Old Pedestrian Crash Victim Dies

WORCESTER – The five-year-old victim of a pedestrian crash in Worcester on Monday, April 18, has died while hospitalized in intensive care.

Asha Nyarki Asare was walking with her 5-year-old daughter, Candice Asare-Yeboah, on Stafford Street in Worcester when they were struck by an SUV.

According to an update on the GoFundMe page set up by family members to raise funds for the victims, Asare-Yeboah died on Monday, May 23.

An update to the same page on May 9 reported Asare was released from the hospital and recovering at home.

The proceeds from the fundraiser, previously intended to support mortgage and bill payments for the family, will now also be directed to funeral expenses, according to the update.

The fundraiser has received over 375 donations and nearly $17,000 at the time of publication.
